Heartwarming Initiative

The purpose of the “Heartwarming Initiative” that introduced by the Hong Kong Asia Heart Centre is to improve the heart health of the general public. We strongly believe that by cherishing and caring for the people around us, heart disease can be prevented or detected earlier and thus more lives can be saved. The initiative is divided into four parts, namely, Hospital’s Surgeries, Rehabilitation Support, Entering the Community, and Heart Examination, to care about the heart health of the general public in different perspectives.

The ECG is used to assess heart function. Patient whose complains of chest pain or shortness of breath will often have an ECG as one of the first tests to help determine if there is an acute myocardial infarction or heart attack present.

Electrocardiogram (ECG) can assist in diagnosing cardiac arrhythmias. By using ECG machine, the change of every heart activity can be recorded.

Exercise treadmill is an investigation to assess how your heart, lungs and blood vessels respond to increasing workload and exercise. It is currently most frequently used to estimate prognosis and determine functional capacity, to assess the probability and extent of coronary disease, and to assess the effect of therapy.

Kardia can capture a medical-grade ECG in a very short period, know instantly if your heart rhythm is normal or if atrial fibrillation is detected in your ECG.

Echocardiography is an investigation that uses sound waves to produce live images of your heart. The image is an echocardiogram. For the 2D ultrasound, they provide flatter, two-dimensional, black and white image.

A stress echocardiography, also called an echocardiography stress test or stress echo, is a procedure that determines how well your heart and blood vessels are working.

Exercise increases demand of blood supply to heart muscle which is not supported in the presence of arterial narrowing. The problem can be picked up by different methods. When patient cannot exercise well, drugs can be used instead to induce stress exercise effect.

Trans-esophageal echocardiography (TEE) aims at studying the structure and function of the heart. It is performed through introducing a probe of 1 cm in diameter through the mouth into the esophagus.

Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) measures blood pressure at regular intervals. This is a small machine, about the size of a portable radio. You wear it on your waist for a specific period. The blood pressure cuff on the monitor can be worn under your clothes without anyone seeing it.
